It was the 1980’s, and the Hip Hop scene was a creative world of breakdancing and soulful beats. He was ten years old, infatuated by the classic movies of the time - Krush Groove, Beat Street, Breakin’ - and he lived for the smooth style of LL Cool J and his favourite song, ‘I Can’t Live Without My Radio’. He began to learn the art of breakdancing while immersed in the Hip Hop crowd at the local Boys & Girls Club, but soon found an even deeper fascination with the musical intricacies of the DJ booth. This was how DJ Dan Steel started the road to mixing music. At the early age of sixteen, Steel began the journey of his true calling, performing for the first time with small shows at the Boys & Girls Club. Then, as his passion for the craft was further enflamed by these experiences, he began saving scrupulously so he could buy his first turntables - the famed Technics 1200. After several more years of learning and gaining experience, he made his professional DJ debut, and gained popularity performing at weddings, special events, dance clubs and high-class venues like The Downstairs Club. With over a decade of hitting the scene and making his mark, DJ Dan Steel has quickly become a name to remember.
